Clergy have spoken out on the threat posed by the coronavirus. The Episcopate has issued an announcement on the matter, which we can read on the pages of Rzeczpospolita:
In view of the possibility that the coronavirus may appear in Poland, I encourage the clergy and the faithful to exercise increased caution,” wrote Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, chairman of the Polish Episcopal Conference.
Since there are many ways in which this virus can spread—and communication between people is very intense today—it is necessary for bishops in their dioceses, in centers where such a threat might emerge, to inform the faithful about the possibility of receiving Holy Communion spiritually or in the hand during this period,” the archbishop added. He also stressed that “anyone who fears infection should not use the holy water placed in stoups during this time.
