During the winter and heating season, residents often report that municipal waste has not been collected because of hot ash in the bin, also explaining that they put cold ash into the bin.
Hot ash must never be put into bins!
Ash that has only just been removed from the furnace will not only damage your bin, but may also cause the waste collection vehicle to catch fire.
The municipality adds:
Only the waste collection team members decide whether the ash is sufficiently cool, as they are responsible not only for the vehicle but also for their own safety.
A vehicle fire caused by spontaneous ignition directly threatens employees and other road users. A waste collection vehicle in our municipality has already caught fire several times through spontaneous ignition.
Officials emphasize:
A good solution seems to be leaving the remnants of the combustion process in a safe place to cool naturally.
Let us remember that hot ash must not be put into the municipal waste bin!
