The incident occurred on Monday (10 February) at the 52nd kilometre of the A4 motorway (near Krzyżowa). Strong winds damaged an information sign. Firefighters from Bolesławiec, volunteer firefighters from Różyniec and Krzyżowa, and a police patrol are at the scene. A collision involving two lorries also occurred nearby (one lorry hit the rear of another). Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
Traffic towards the border is blocked. The lanes towards Germany have already been closed at the Okmiany interchange. Traffic leaving the motorway has been diverted onto national road 94, where major traffic jams are forming. Traffic jams on national road 94 already begin near Chojnów (towards Okmiany). This is because another road incident occurred on the A4 (near Jadwisin, Legnica County), and traffic from there is also being diverted onto national road 94. National road 94 is also congested near Wilczy Las, Bolesławiec and in Bolesławiec itself (the bypass).
The disruptions may last several hours.
