Our Reader asked us to publicize the matter. In an email to the editorial office, they wrote: “Please obtain an explanation from the authorities of this town. The matter concerns the terrible stench coming from the sewer manholes at the Gdańska–Śluzowa intersection. It is impossible to pass that way without retching.”
Ireneusz Maszko, president of the Bolesławiec Water and Sewerage Company, reassures residents: these are temporary inconveniences. “This stench is probably the result of the disaster that passed over Bolesławiec County last week,” says the head of PWiK. “The amount of water flowing into the sewer system exceeded all permissible standards. During the storm, some manholes were forced out,” he adds. At the same time, he assures us that the company will investigate our Reader’s report.

Here is the Reader’s comment: “In my humble opinion, this was not caused by any storm, unless it has been going on continuously all year. But it is a fact that the stench intensifies when a storm is brewing. I suggest driving through the intersection in question; I assure you that the smell will remain in the car for at least five minutes.”
We will return to this matter.
