On January 17, third-grade students from the Primary School in Nowa Wieś visited the Municipal Office in Nowogrodziec. Municipal officials wrote about the visit of these unusual guests:
Welcomed by their host with hot tea and sweets, they had no hesitation about asking even absurd questions. The smile never left the Mayor’s face. There were also questions about planned investments connected with the school in Nowa Wieś and the localities where the school’s students live.
The Mayor showed the students around the office. Unexpectedly, employees from various departments found themselves under a barrage of questions. The children’s directness and honesty brought smiles to everyone’s faces.
Students who have been learning about self-government and democracy from an early age by participating in class and school council elections had the opportunity to see how the office operates and what falls within the competence of local government.
At the end of the meeting, the students presented the mayor of Nowogrodziec with a thank-you note for enabling their visit to the Nowogrodziec town hall and gave him their drawings as a keepsake. All participants in the meeting received gifts bearing the municipality’s symbols from Robert Relich .
