The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 21, at approximately 11:25 a.m. Firefighters were dispatched to a chimney fire caused by soot in the village of Gierałtów. Volunteers from OSP Nowogrodziec:

We arrived at the scene first. The building was checked with a multi-gas detector, and respiratory protection equipment was needed to continue extinguishing the fire in the stove, as the carbon monoxide concentration reached as much as 400 ppm!

An emergency medical team was called as a precaution for the resident who was in the dangerous area.

Besides the uniformed officers from Nowogrodziec, firefighters from Gierałtów and Bolesławiec also took part in the operation.
