On January 16, mayor Robert Relich signed an agreement for the implementation of an investment involving the renovation of the observation tower and development of the surrounding area.

Municipal officials:

The structure is listed in the municipal register of historic monuments. As part of the project, sheet-metal work will be carried out, including a titanium-zinc sheet gargoyle and a lightning protection system. The architectural elements of the façade made of ceramic brick and sandstone will be renovated. The window and door joinery in the façade will also be recreated, the fan-shaped internal staircase will be renovated, and the tower’s ceiling and the internal plasterwork around the window openings will be repaired.

The surrounding area will also be appropriately developed by dismantling the octagonal brick plinth around the tower and rebuilding it with new bricks, renovating the retaining walls and the surface of the square around the tower as well as the entrance staircase surface, and recreating pedestrian paths with unpaved surfaces.

The works will be carried out by a consortium from Kraków. (The contractor was selected through an open tender.) The investment is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2020.
