A reader named Piotr wrote to us:

If someone wanted to register or re-register a car at the office in Bolesławiec, they would have to wait approximately 4–5 hours for the vehicle registration department.

We checked. Indeed, the queue is exceptionally long. People are even waiting on the stairs.

We tried to determine why this was happening, but the people from the county office whom we spoke to knew nothing about it.

Could it be a matter of poor organization at the County Office during the New Year period? Or rather, is it the result of people leaving everything until the last minute?

Update 18:28

As we have learned, the queues are the result of changes to the law and people’s fear of fines ranging from PLN 200 to PLN 1,000. From January 2020, regulations will come into force requiring 30 days to re-register a car. Anyone who fails to do so will be fined. People therefore still have time until January 30 of the new year.

Update 2019-12-31 13:10

Dear customers,

Due to the increased number of people reporting to the Department of Vehicles and Transport to register vehicles, we would like to inform you that we are making every effort to ensure that each customer is served on the same day. All service desks are serving customers, and registering one vehicle takes approximately 20 minutes, so we ask for your patience. Our employees are making every effort to ensure that each customer registers their vehicle as quickly as possible.

We also inform you that documents may be submitted at the County Office of Bolesławiec’s filing office, located at the entrance to Building A.

Due to changes in the regulations coming into force on January 1, 2020, we also inform you that the deadline for registering a vehicle is January 31, 2020.
