On Wednesday, 18 December, a ceremony was held in Bolesławiec’s Market Square to hand over new vehicles and hydraulic technical rescue equipment to firefighters from our county.
The ceremony was attended, among others, by Brig. Marek Hajduk of the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Wrocław; Agnieszka Sokołowska, director of the Security Department of the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship; local-government officials and representatives of the uniformed services; as well as retired Senior Brig. Grzegorz Kocon, former head of the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec, and the Rev. Prelate Dr. Habil. Andrzej Jarosiewicz, rector of the Bolesławiec Basilica of the Virgin Mary, who blessed the new equipment. Entrepreneurs who financially supported the purchase were also present.
The new firefighting equipment cost a total of more than PLN 1.86 million. The funds were obtained from:
- the Lower Silesian State Fire Service
- the Wrocław Regional Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management
- a grant from the General Headquarters of the State Fire Service for volunteer fire service units belonging to the National Rescue and Firefighting System
- grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Administration for volunteer fire service units
- a grant from the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship במסגרת the “Improving Safety in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in 2019” programme
- the budgets of Warta Bolesławiecka Municipality and Osiecznica Municipality
- the budget of Bolesławiec County and other municipal governments
- business entities, including Bader Polska, SRG Global, Ensila Group and Spółdzielnia STW.
“On behalf of the residents of Bolesławiec County, State Fire Service firefighters and volunteer rescuers, I would like to thank everyone involved in obtaining the vehicles and rescue equipment,” said Brig. Andrzej Śliwowski, commander of the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec. “We firefighters will strive, through our daily service, to fulfil our mission of helping people affected by fires and local hazards, and to ensure that the vehicles and equipment handed over remain fully operational for many years to come.”
A Scania firefighting and rescue vehicle went to firefighters in Bolesławiec, while a Volvo went to firefighters from Warta Bolesławiecka. Technical rescue equipment sets were handed over to volunteer firefighters from Osiecznica and Przejęsław.
Following the ceremony at the Wedding Palace, three firefighters were honoured (more information on this subject soon), and local-government officials and entrepreneurs who supported the purchase of the new equipment were officially thanked.
