Readers informed us that the first solo release by JotGie (short for “Jestem Graczem”), a rapper from Nowogrodziec who has lived in Warsaw for three years, has just been released. The mixtape is titled “Two Colors”.
As the person concerned wrote on his Facebook profile:
It worked! After several months of hard work, the project has been completed, and I can confidently say that I achieved my goal. The final result is fucking awesome. Totally professional.
JotGie on his debut release
Mateusz’s, as our local man is named, adventure with hip-hop began back in primary school. That was when his first tracks were created.
Interestingly, the hip-hop artist has already played several concerts in our region. He performed in Lubań, Gryfów Śląski, and also in his hometown of Nowogrodziec—at a harvest festival, of all places. He is planning more concerts next year. Whether he will visit our area remains unknown for now.
Why hip-hop? “With this music, all you need is a knack for lyrics and a sense of rhythm; with pop, you also need a voice,” JotGie jokes.
The debut release mainly features party tracks, which the creator himself describes as being “tongue-in-cheek.” (Though there are also some more serious ones.) “I did not intend to rap about the street or poverty, because I have never experienced it,” the rapper explains. He adds, quoting Peja: “Such life, such rap.”
When will we get new tracks? Probably after the New Year. This time, however, JotGie plans to focus on singles. It is also possible that a music video for one of the tracks will be made next year.
