The idea of introducing an excise tax on fireworks recently emerged at the Ministry of Finance. It is reportedly backed by money.pl by Minister Tadeusz Kościński.
What are the reasons why the Ministry of Finance is considering such a solution?
- the nuisance caused by the explosions
- the danger to those setting off fireworks
- animals' reactions to the noise
- the waste left after the New Year's Eve celebrations.
Money.pl adds:
Minister Tadeusz Kościński assures, however, that nothing will be done “in haste” on this matter. The government wants to carefully analyze the idea and consult all those concerned.
It therefore appears that the pyrotechnic products we buy for this New Year's Eve will not yet be subject to the new tax. (Details at money.pl).
