A reader wrote to us via Facebook:
Do you perhaps know […], what the situation with the pond looks like? Almost two weeks have passed since the water was pumped out, and there is still no water in the pond. Were any works actually carried out there, or—as has recently become popular here—was it started and then nothing else was done?
And added:
I am no expert on birds, but the ducks living in the pond and splashing around in the tiny puddles left there probably are not doing too well.
As we have managed to establish, the municipal pond on Bankowa Street is being cleaned, including of silt. (The work is being carried out by Ogrody Jagielski from Bolesławice.) The work may take up to two weeks. Once it is completed, everything is expected to return to normal.
We also learned that the iconic Łajba is being renovated.
We wrote more about the operation to pump water out of the pond at the end of November.
