On Tuesday, July 7, Bolesławiec police officers detained two men aged 35 and 37. Both are suspected of having fraudulently obtained loans in 2004 and 2005 on the basis of a forged employment certificate. Investigators established that the men took out cash loans from several financial institutions totalling nearly PLN 29,000. The forged documents were issued for them by the owner of the company where they were employed occasionally. The suspects told police that he was the one who encouraged them to commit the fraud. The money was intended to support his struggling company.

The investigation is ongoing. Police do not rule out further arrests. The suspects face up to 8 years in prison.
