The actor performed at Teatr Polski in Poznań, Rozmaitości in Warsaw, Teatr Narodowy, Teatr Montownia and Teatr Telewizji. He made his screen debut in 1993 in Jerzy Skolimowski’s Ferdydurke. Among others, he appeared in films by Feliks Falk, Filip Bajon, Juliusz Machulski, Tomasz Wiszniewski, Wojciech Smarzowski, Marek Koterski and Tomasz Bagiński.
His most acclaimed roles include Socha in Agnieszka Holland’s Oscar-nominated film In Darkness, Lech Wałęsa in Wałęsa: Man of Hope, directed by Andrzej Wajda, and Jerzy—the main character in The Mighty Angel, directed by Wojtek Smarzowski. He has won numerous awards in Poland and abroad, including as many as four Eagles, the Polish Film Awards. The latest films and series starring Więckiewicz in leading roles include Smarzowski’s Clergy, Janusz Kondratiuk’s Squint Your Eyes and Blink, Koterski’s 7 Emotions, Krzysztof Skonieczny’s 1983—the first Polish production for Netflix—and Łukasz Kośmicki’s The Hidden Game.
We will talk with Robert Więckiewicz, among other things, about working on film sets, collaborating with outstanding directors, the films he has appeared in and the demanding preparation for his roles. There will also be memories of Legnica, after all, it was here that the actor completed secondary school.
