From June 26 to 28, the International Table Tennis Tournament for People with Disabilities was held in the hall of the Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Zawodowych. More than forty table tennis players from Jańskie Łaźnie (Czech Republic), Poznań, Wrocław, Zielona Góra, Bielawa and Bolesławiec took part in the competition organized by TOP Bolesławiec.
The three-day tournament also proved to be a good social event. “The competition proved that organizing this type of event makes a great deal of sense,” says Łukasz Jaźwiec, the project’s chief coordinator. “During sporting competition, disability seems to lose its significance, while the results, although very important, become less significant than the joy and smiles on the competitors’ faces,” he adds.
The table tennis players competed in four groups. Here are the names of the best competitors:
