On Friday, June 26, a hip-hop new style dance show took place at Orzeł Cinema. The participants in the three-day workshop, led by dancers from the Canon group: Agnieszka Nowak, Kamila Osuch and Jordan Czopko, presented their skills.
Kamila Osuch and Jordan Czopko paid tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, who died on Thursday. The members of Canon danced to one of Jackson’s most famous songs, “Beat It.”
After the show, the instructors and Katarzyna Tomczyk-Jakubowska, a dance instructor at the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre, presented the workshop participants with certificates. Four of the most talented participants received gifts. Paweł Michalski was among them. “I saw people dancing on television for the first time. I liked it,” Paweł says. “Then my sister became interested in dancing. I decided to try it too.”
That evening, Paweł, although he is not yet a member of Canon, danced on stage with the group. He learned the choreography developed by Jordan Czopko in less than three hours... through YouTube. “I love dancing. When I hear music, my legs just want to dance,” the boy says.
“We wanted to teach something new to young people who had not yet left for their holidays,” Katarzyna Tomczyk-Jakubowska told IstotneInformacje.pl. “The workshop attracted a great deal of interest. And it is hardly surprising. Hip-hop new style is a very popular dance.”
Dance classes organized by BOK will resume on August 10.
