A Reader wrote in an email to the editorial office that on the eve of All Saints’ Day, platform 2 at the Bolesławiec railway station is to be accepted for use. This information was confirmed in a conversation with the istotne.pl portal by Bohdan Ząbek from the PKP PLK press office.
What does this mean?
If everything goes well, the aforementioned platform—importantly, with two edges!—will be made available to passengers as early as 1 November.
The renovation cost more than PLN 5.3 million.
Why did it take so long?
We have reported repeatedly in our coverage that the renovation of the second platform lasted an horrendously long time. It was assumed that it would open sooner. However, once the surface had been renovated, heavy rain revealed that the shelter also needed repairs...
What about platform 1?
This platform, as a Reader also informed us, will be closed, but as we have managed to establish—only temporarily. Platform 1 will now be renovated as well (its surface and edges).
And provided weather conditions allow it, both platforms will be in operation in the City of Ceramics as early as January next year, with a total of three edges for handling passengers.
Let us hope that all this will improve the punctuality of the trains. (We reported recently on the problems with it in the article: A Reader on trains to Wrocław: “Endless delays since September”). There is no doubt, however, that traffic flow will improve.
