The ceremonial assembly held on Tuesday, June 23, will go down in the history of the Bolesławiec-based 23rd Artillery Brigade. On that day, the unit bid farewell to the last soldiers completing compulsory military service. Contract soldiers and professional privates will take their place.
The privates who had the honor of bidding farewell to the 23rd Artillery Brigade’s standard were: Stefan Guzik, Dawid Stempień and Jarosław Kałuża, while privates Marcin Banat, Adam Kochanowicz and Krzysztof Konik signed the Brigade Chronicle.
Those transferring to the reserve laid flowers beneath the plaque commemorating soldiers of artillery units whose traditions are maintained by the 23rd Artillery Brigade.
Colonel Roman Kłosiński, commander of the 23rd Artillery Brigade, presented awards to soldiers who achieved the best results in training and service. They included: Jarosław Barnowski, Dawid Stempień, Kamil Piwowarski, Marcin Rybka, Tomasz Skorupski, Stefan Guzik, Jarosław Kałuża, Paweł Wojtyczka, Bartosz Wiaderek, Rajmund Kaczor, Mateusz Piotrowski, Tomasz Skwarek, Łukasz Bomba, Mariusz Zaręba, Damian Miziński and Tomasz Jojczyk.
In his speech, the brigade commander emphasized the significance and historic nature of the ceremony, and thanked the soldiers for their commitment and training efforts.
The ceremony concluded with a parade of the Brigade’s subunits, accompanied by the Żagań Military Orchestra.
