The bond that develops between a person who provides treatment and a patient is addressed in art very rarely, so it can be said that the exhibition prepared by NZOZ Provita is exceptional in this respect. The exhibition is devoted to the bond that develops between a patient and a physiotherapist. An intimate and very special situation. A situation in which one person serves another. Helps them overcome pain, illness and limitations. A bond that shows our humanity, compassion and empathy. A moment when we experience small miracles and great human love. The photographs show all these moments, through which, in a world of online hate and so much frequently expressed hatred, space opens up for goodness and the greatness of our deeds. A disabled girl in a wheelchair smiling warmly, joy on a physiotherapist’s face at the patient’s progress, the thoughtfulness with which an orthopedic shoe is tried on, concentration during an examination, and hands expertly bringing relief to a patient’s body.

Two amateur photographers found the subject of bonds appealing: Iwona Champlewska and Piotr Sadowski. The idea was born during a photo shoot of Provita’s physiotherapists for the website. The care and commitment with which they treated their patients impressed Iwona Champlewska, who decided to develop the subject with the consent and great joy of NZOZ Provita manager Ewa Mielecka.

“When Iwona saw something exceptional in our everyday work, I thought that perhaps we should not hide it behind the doors of our offices. That was the first spark from which the exhibition project and today’s opening emerged,” Ewa Mielecka said at the exhibition opening.

The company’s founder and co-owner Janina Słobodzian-Rakowska would like these photographs to be a special form of thanks to the patients, therapists, co-workers and all those who, over 25 years, created close relationships and built a special, strong bond with one another anew each day.

During her speech, Janina Słobodzian-Rakowska also repeatedly mentioned her first husband, Wiesław Słobodzian, who died in 2016. She founded this family business with him 25 years ago. First, in a detached-house garage adapted for the purpose in the Osiedle Kwiatowe neighborhood, then in the building of the former emergency station, and finally at the current NZOZ Provita headquarters at 7a Grunwaldzka Street.

“The most important things in life are an idea and courage,” Janina Słobodzian-Rakowska said at the meeting Janina Słobodzian-Rakowska. “Together with my first husband Wiesław, we founded the Provita service and trading company, which began operating in the basement of a detached house in the Osiedle Kwiatowe neighborhood. Wiesław had an extraordinary talent for organization and trade; he simply loved it, and very quickly we had many patients and customers. When we moved to the former emergency-station building, we did not know what to do with the large, one-hundred-square-meter space. Then a lovely, young and energetic girl knocked on our door: Ewa Mielecka, our first employee and the driving force of our company. With her, we quickly put those hundred square meters to use. Before long, it turned out that even this was too little for us. To this day, I fondly remember the first Christmas Eve celebration we held together in the building where the company is located today. It was a Christmas Eve with doctors, therapists and the entire staff. We could not fit all the dishes, so Wiesław took a door off its hinges and placed it on the treatment couches; that is how our first Christmas Eve celebration took place. It was very beautiful and moving, and since then we have held a company Christmas Eve celebration every year, with an ever-growing group of therapists and employees. We were one of the first companies to register as a non-public healthcare facility with a contract with the National Health Fund. When we started doing this, acquaintances and friends thought we were crazy. They said hospitals and rehabilitation wards were closing. The rehabilitation ward in Bolesławiec was closed down. We replied: people will always need another person and a service like ours; they will come to us—and that is what happened. In 2016 came another turning point. My business partner, founder and first husband, Wiesław Słobodzian, died. It was a difficult moment and a difficult time for us and for the family, but I knew one thing: the company had to continue operating, also out of respect for Wiesław’s memory. Fortunately, our children, Ania and Konrad, felt the same. Since then, much has happened, because the younger generation brings new ideas. Our company and its importance would not exist without the staff. We have excellent therapists; their essential qualities are that they are well educated, knowledgeable and have great hearts for people and their work,” the founder of Provita concluded.

President Piotr Roman, invited to the 25th-anniversary celebrations of NZOZ Provita, emphasized that the company, whose name contains the word for life—“pro vita”—held its jubilee in the revitalized building of the Mieszko shopping pavilion, now the Knowledge Center.

“This is an exceptional moment, a success story that I have had the opportunity to observe practically from the very beginning and from very close up,” Piotr Roman said. “Together with the late Wiesław, we talked about the development of the county, and these conversations often turned to the development of healthcare and the Lower Silesian Sickness Fund. This is a great achievement. Provita has created a certain value; it proves that you feel at home in our city and promote our city. People who are ill come to you and leave very satisfied. They have good associations with Bolesławiec. We witnessed the company’s rapid development, and it was indeed carried out in such a way that whenever cooperation was needed—and I remember several such moments—we resolved matters well, with understanding and by reaching a compromise. You take part in many city events, such as the Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival. You are a model for other companies in Bolesławiec. From a marketing point of view, this is a great success, and I congratulate you on it. I thank the creators, staff and client-models for this exhibition. Many thanks, because this is added value for our city. At the same time, I wish you all the best and hope the company continues to grow.”

At the end of the speeches, Janina Słobodzian-Rakowska thanked the president for taking the anniversary celebrations under his patronage and for supporting many NZOZ Provita initiatives over the years, including an important recurring event: thematic conferences devoted to health.

The event also featured Wojciech Garwoliński, a musician and CranioSacral Therapy by Upledger therapist, who performed his own songs, highlighting the importance of passion and talent.Wojciech Garwoliński
