Bolesławiec County Headquarters of the State Fire Service:
Duty on September 30, 2019, involved intensive work removing the effects of incidents caused by strong winds.
The first calls reporting fallen or broken trees began reaching the PSP command post in Bolesławiec at around 10:00 a.m. In total, the fire service in Bolesławiec received 41 reports that day, 38 of which concerned removing the effects of strong winds; the remaining reports concerned traffic incidents (details in the articles The driving licences of the perpetrators of the collision in Tomaszów were seized and Police chase for a drunk criminal subject to a court ban) and a chimney-flue fire.
Fortunately, nobody was injured as a result of the gale. The firefighters report:
In two cases, buildings were damaged; in three cases, vehicles were damaged; additionally, three instances of damage to energy and lighting infrastructure were recorded.
Most interventions involving fallen trees or broken branches also caused difficulties for road traffic, and in one case resulted in the suspension of rail traffic.

The Bolesławiec County State Fire Service Headquarters reminds readers that firefighters’ rescue priority is saving human life, followed by property. If a fallen tree does not pose a threat to human life or property, securing and removing it is the responsibility of the owner or user of the land.
Monday’s operations involved firefighters from Bolesławiec, Trzebień, Warta Bolesławiecka, Ocice, Nowogrodziec, Różyniec, Gromadka, Osiecznica, Parowa, Brzeźnik, Ławszowa, Nowogrodziec – Osiedle, and a unit of the Military Fire Service from Świętoszów.
