The bomb disposal operation is under way. So far, the soldiers have found 8 shells and 20 fuzes.
Statement by the Mayor of Bolesławiec of September 13, 2019:
The Mayor informs residents that on Saturday, September 14, 2019, due to the need to remove unexploded ordnance from the city, vehicle traffic will be suspended from 10:00 a.m. until further notice on the following streets:
- Hutnicza,
- Bolesława Chrobrego, from the intersection with Żwirki i Wigury Street to the intersection with Aleja Tysiąclecia,
- Staroszkolna, from the intersection with Bolesława Chrobrego Street to the intersection with Jana Pawła II Street
As a result, the routes of some MZK lines will change. Information about the planned changes will be posted at bus stops.
Statement by the Mayor of Bolesławiec of September 12, 2019:
Due to the danger to human health and life caused by unexploded ordnance from World War II found in Bolesławiec on Staroszkolna Street (the former Eastern Railway Station), I order the evacuation of all persons staying in the city of Bolesławiec from properties located at the following addresses:
- Bolesława Chrobrego: even numbers 30–42; odd numbers from 25 (Biedronka) to the intersection with Aleja Tysiąclecia,
- Aleja Tysiąclecia 1,
- Staroszkolna 2ab
and:
- the parking lot on Hutnicza Street,
- the parking lot on Fabryczna Street
The evacuation will take place on September 14, 2019 (Saturday), from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
The unexploded ordnance will be removed from 11:00 a.m. until further notice.
For the duration of the evacuation, rooms have been prepared at the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre in Bolesławiec, Plac Marszałka J. Piłsudskiego 1C, where people can take shelter during the evacuation.
People who need assistance with evacuation and those requiring medical transport are asked to call 604 112 842 or 604 220 085 on Friday until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday until 9:00 a.m. After that, such needs should be reported to police officers operating in the area.
From 10:00 a.m.:
- vehicle traffic in the danger area will be suspended until further notice,
- MZK bus routes will change in accordance with the information posted at bus stops (which will be out of service), on displays inside buses and on the MZK website in Bolesławiec.
We will announce the end of the evacuation via SMS and on the city website.
