Lower Silesian officers of the National Revenue Administration, together with officers from the Nadodrze Border Guard Unit, thwarted the transport of 20 tons of waste into Poland during an inspection on the A4 motorway. The municipal waste from Germany was intended for Silesia.
Border Guard:
In accordance with the applicable procedures, a request for an opinion in the matter was sent to the Voivodeship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection. The Inspectorate issued a decision confirming the officers’ initial suspicions and classifying the transport in question as the illegal transboundary movement of waste.
The driver was fined, and the seized cargo was transported to a designated parking area.
Further proceedings in the case are being conducted by the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zgorzelec.
The waste recipient may face a very high fine and even up to five years in prison.
