Statement by the Mayor of Bolesławiec dated August 30, 2019
Due to the resulting threat to people’s health and lives, caused by unexploded ordnance from World War II found in Bolesławiec on Staroszkolna Street (the former Eastern Railway Station), I order the evacuation of all people staying in the city of Bolesławiec from properties located on the following streets:
- Adama Asnyka Street, numbers 10 to 22a
- Bolesława Chrobrego Street: even numbers 14–42; odd numbers from the Gerresheimer company headquarters (15) to the intersection with Aleja Tysiąclecia,
- Aleja Tysiąclecia 1,
- Juliusza Słowackiego 13,
- Staroszkolna 2ab and 4ab,
- Ciesielska Street,
- Fabryczna Street,
- Hutnicza Street,
- Królowej Jadwigi Street,
- Piotra i Pawła Street,
- Żwirki i Wigury Street.
The evacuation will take place on August 31, 2019 (Saturday), from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The unexploded ordnance will be removed from 12:00 p.m. until further notice.
For the duration of the evacuation, rooms at Primary School No. 1 at 38c Jana Pawła II Street have been prepared, where people can take shelter. For this purpose, MZK buses will be placed at the bus stops on Bolesława Chrobrego Street and Żwirki i Wigury Street. The buses will depart at 9:30, 10:00, 10:30 and 11:00 a.m.
People needing assistance with evacuation and people requiring medical transport are asked to call 604 112 842 or 604 220 085 on Friday by 9:00 p.m. or on Saturday by 9:00 a.m. After that, needs in this regard should be reported to Police officers operating in the area.
From 11:00 a.m.:
- vehicle traffic in the danger area will be halted until further notice,
- all bus services in the city will be suspended until further notice.
We will announce the end of the evacuation via SMS, on the city’s website and through voice announcements.
