Once again, unexploded ordnance has been found at the construction site of the Retail Park at the intersection of Chrobrego, Hutniczna and Staroszkolna streets. Construction workers found three such objects. They are probably mortar shells. One of them is still partially buried in the ground. Police are at the scene.
The dangerous find will be handled by bomb-disposal experts, who will decide on the further procedures. It cannot be ruled out that people will need to be evacuated from the nearest buildings while the dangerous objects are removed. The bomb-disposal patrol is expected to arrive at the scene at around 1:00 p.m. A decision on whether an evacuation will take place will also be made then.
Update: 2019-08-29, 2:00 p.m.
The bomb-disposal experts are to begin operations on Saturday (August 31) at noon. Before that, people will be evacuated from buildings within approximately 300 metres of the place where the unexploded ordnance was found. A detailed evacuation plan will be established during Friday’s meeting of the crisis management team at the city office. Until the bomb-disposal operation begins, police will secure the site of the dangerous find.

In March this year, unexploded ordnance was also found at the construction site of this facility, and an evacuation of people and road closures in the surrounding area were ordered.
