The old pagan festival known as the harvest festival has survived all the gods through the centuries, successfully becoming part of Christian tradition and even surviving the times of the Polish People's Republic. Today, it combines a religious celebration, beginning with Holy Mass, with a gathering of municipal and county authorities and politicians presenting themselves ahead of the elections taking place in autumn.
The main attraction of the harvest festival is the presentation of the wreaths. Women from the Rural Housewives' Circles devoted most of their time to creating beautiful compositions from grain.
This year, first place went to the harvest wreath from the Ocice village. Congratulations. The following post appeared in the village group:
"We did it!!! First place in the competition for the most beautiful harvest wreath in Bolesławiec municipality, for the first time in history. Thank you all very much for your hard work—you are the best!!!"
Every year, the Bolesławiec county head invites all village councils—led by their village heads—to take part in a competition for the most beautiful traditional harvest wreath. The harvest wreaths entered in the competition will be judged by a committee appointed by the county head. In accordance with the regulations, the most beautiful and traditional wreath will represent Bolesławiec County at the Lower Silesian harvest festival, which will take place on 8 September in Niemcza.
