The fact that our firefighters are also excellent volleyball players could once again be seen during the Lower Silesian Voivodeship PSP Firefighters’ Beach Volleyball Championship, held again at the MOSiR Water and Sports Centre in Bolesławiec.

This is already the seventh edition of the competition. For four years, the host has been the City of Ceramics.

This year’s competition features 17 two-person teams representing county and municipal PSP commands from across Lower Silesia. The final will take place on Saturday, 17 August.

The special guest of the seventh edition of the championship is brigadier general, or essentially a general, Adam Konieczny, head of the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Wrocław. (He is the only serving firefighter of such a high rank in Lower Silesia.)

“The Bolesławiec command is very active in sports,” the provincial commander told istotne.pl. “The provincial beach volleyball championship is a very important initiative; it is a significant element of professional development which, we hope, will also be fostered in other Lower Silesian commands.”

Why volleyball? “It is a team sport that greatly brings firefighters together,” adds the head of the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service.

The tournament was co-financed by the Municipality of Bolesławiec. We will return to the subject.
