The construction of the drainage system for a section of Zgorzelecka Street (near Carrefour) has been completed. Constant flooding and puddles were a nuisance for drivers and residents waiting for a bus at the stops. The project first involved identifying the cause of the large accumulation of water near the bus bays and in the road area, followed by rebuilding the network in a way that would permanently eliminate the problem.
As a result, what was probably a pre-war brick channel of considerable diameter was uncovered. The channel was completely blocked. It was cleaned and thoroughly inspected to assess the possibility of further use. The inspection confirmed that it was in good condition and suitable for continued operation.
Thanks to the use of the old/new channel, work on the project was significantly simplified and its costs were reduced.
As a result, three additional kerb-and-road inlets were installed near the bus bay (by the monastery) and connected to the cleared channel. One inlet was rebuilt. The remaining street inlets in the area were cleaned. Some of the work was carried out at night to maintain smooth traffic flow.
