Voivodeship Police Headquarters:

The newly established SPEED group is another “tool” intended to increase road safety by primarily counteracting aggressive driver behavior and detecting offenses related to excessive speed.

The officers add: “Officers in patrol cars specially adapted to chase road pirates have apparently not yet made an impression on drivers in Lower Silesia. This is evident from the great surprise of one driver, who was completely unprepared to be stopped for a roadside check by police officers operating as part of the SPEED group.

On the A4 motorway in Bolesławiec County, the man significantly exceeded the speed limit of 200 km/h, where the limit is 140 km/h. (One of the measurements recorded a speed of 224 km/h on the video recorder.) His reckless drive ended only after officers intervened.

The case will ultimately be decided in court.
