On July 1, from 5:00 a.m., officers from the Traffic Division of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec conducted intensified checks of drivers’ sobriety throughout Bolesławiec County.
The officers checked the sobriety of nearly 250 drivers at various locations throughout Bolesławiec County. All checks ended with... a negative result; all drivers were sober.
Stricter penalties for driving under the influence

It is worth recalling the stricter sanctions for people driving vehicles while intoxicated and for drivers who, while in that state, caused a road accident (an incident in which people were killed or seriously injured).
First, the period for which the criminal measure of a driving ban may be imposed was extended from 10 to 15 years, while the minimum period for which the ban may be imposed was set at 3 years.

People driving a vehicle while intoxicated must also expect severe financial consequences. Regardless of the sentence imposed, the court is required to order a monetary payment of no less than PLN 5,000 in the case of a person committing this offense for the first time, and no less than PLN 10,000 when a person has driven a vehicle while intoxicated again.
