A company operating in the Bolesławiec area accidentally paid the same wages to its employees twice. The plant employs more than 2,000 people. It is not known exactly how many employees received double pay.
The company is now hoping that people will return the additional payment.
“Immediately after the settlement period, that is, before the tenth, there were payments for the month, and there were two transfers. People were surprised; some were very pleased. Everyone was asking everyone else, and it turned out that most people had received it. Some started returning it immediately after being informed by the company, but others are delaying,” one of the plant’s employees says anonymously.
The company may have a problem because it cannot automatically deduct this amount from the next paycheck. It may do so only if the employee agrees. The company can also hope that people will return the money themselves. However, if an employee refuses, the company will have to take the matter to court. If employees try to prove that they have already spent the money and did not know that the company had made a mistake, they will not have to return their wages. However, with a double payment, it will be difficult to prove such lack of awareness in court.
