Glinoludy practiced, bonded and got to know their bodies during workshops led by Urszula Frąszczak-Matyjewicz. The instructor used her own techniques, drawing on the traditions of the Grotowski and Kantor theaters. People of different ages attended the sessions. The youngest participant, Dominik, was five years old, while the oldest, Rajmund, was around 70.

One of the participants, sixteen-year-old Dominika, spoke about her impressions. “At first I didn’t know what it was about; it was strange. Then the exercises calmed me down. During the sessions, through emotions and acting, I could express what I wanted to express but couldn’t put into words,” Dominika said.

In an interview with the IstotneInformacje.pl portal, Urszula Frąszczak-Matyjewicz explained how she worked with the group. “First, you have to bring the group together and help it become comfortable with its new role. At the beginning of the workshops, participants are not aware of their bodies or what their actions look like. That is why during the sessions part of the group watched the others’ activities, and then they switched. This helped the participants better understand what movement and acting involved and what mistakes they were making. At the same time, everyone had a good time and, most importantly, wanted to take part in the sessions,” Frąszczak-Matyjewicz said happily.

A grand parade in Berlin awaits Glinoludy. They received their final instructions from mime artist Bogdan Nowak. Nowak explained how to remain still, how to prepare one’s final gesture and how to use props so that they would also perform alongside the actors.

Glinoludy will not be the only ones parading in Berlin. Fire will blaze around them. Fire dancers from Bolesławiec are also traveling to the German capital. A German drumming group will provide the musical accompaniment. It promises to be a wonderful spectacle.

How to become the most eye-catching Glinolud?

A highly experienced Glinoludka offers some advice on how to attract the attention of photojournalists. Photographers love original Glinoludy carrying an interesting prop or wearing an outfit with a surprising splash of color.

How can you stand out? You can bring a large teddy bear, paint it with clay and carry it on your back. You can wear a birdcage as a hat, a red umbrella with large holes or a nurse’s uniform. You can create a hump, bring an old suitcase and paint it with clay. You can pull a cart painted with clay and filled with rags. You can carry red milk cans, blue rubber boots, an old coat or an interesting beret, or attach balloons to a backpack. You can pin colorful birds, artificial or natural flowers, into your clay-covered hair. You can carry a sled or skis, be a clown or a character with a huge nose and feathers, wear a Native American headdress or a cowboy hat, or dress up as a Greek, a Roman or a historical figure. You can wear an interesting dress or a colorful skirt.

Wings of all kinds, turbans and other headwear in contrasting colors also look good.

We invite you to invent your own costumes. Anything can be painted with clay or white emulsion paint. Props can be brought for yourself and others. The IstotneInformacje.pl portal’s photo gallery can serve as inspiration.

Via Sudetica announcement

On Friday, May 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., preparations for the trip—painting clothes and props—will take place at Galeria Concordia. Clothes to be painted with clay are best made of natural materials in light colors (white, beige or blue). You can bring bags to paint with clay. The bags will be useful for storing, for example, a phone, provisions or a bottle of water during the march. Prepared clothes should be packed in large plastic bags and labeled.
