Students from schools in Bolesławiec, Zgorzelec and Jelenia Góra qualified for the competition. All the awards went to students from Bolesławiec. The special award, funded by istotne.pl publishing house and Grażyna Hanaf, went to Aleksander Rerich, a student of Primary School No. 2 named after Bolesław Chrobry in Jelenia Góra, for one of the best speeches concerning the situation of LGBT+ people in Poland.

The presentations were heard by a jury consisting of: Dr. Agnieszka Maciejewska (singer, actress, educator, specialist in public speaking, communication and speeches), Grażyna Hanaf (journalist, writer, traveler), and Jerzy Zieliński (Polish philologist, lawyer, secretary of the Bolesławiec City Council).

The speeches covered a wide range of topics. They concerned issues important to contemporary young people: ecology, hate, the first serious decisions concerning the future, intolerance, suicide, charitable activity, the ability to notice beauty in everyday life, and the importance of having close, kind people in one’s immediate surroundings.

  • Weronika Zdunek from Primary School No. 2 – Municipal Lower Secondary School No. 2 named after Poles deported to Siberia in Bolesławiec (third place)
  • Justyna Pankowska from Primary School No. 2 in Bolesławiec (honorable mention)
  • Jasmina Skorupka from Primary School No. 2 – Municipal Lower Secondary School No. 2 named after Poles deported to Siberia in Bolesławiec (honorable mention)

The competition awards were funded by the Municipality of Bolesławiec, Gerresheimer Bolesławiec S.A., the Parents’ Council at Primary School No. 2, and istotne.pl publishing house.

This year, honorary patronage over the competition was provided by the Polish Language Council at the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Lower Silesian Superintendent of Education, and the Mayor of Bolesławiec.
