It is now certain. Marcin Stróżyński, Deputy Chair of the Bolesławiec County Council, has resigned from the co-governing Law and Justice councillors’ club in the county. He informed us of the reasons for his decision by email:

The reason, among others:

  • the Deputy Starost’s motion at the club’s last meeting to remove me from the club [podkreślenia – istotne.pl], after which I voted for my own removal, while the other two members voted for me to remain in the club. It should be emphasised that the motion was submitted by the Deputy Starost only because I convened the PiS club and wanted to propose amendments to the statutes
  • in accordance with the wishes of the voters and the party, I do not support the coalition with the Democratic Left Alliance or the additional position on the county board and therefore I also resigned from the club in order to be loyal and honest with the voters and my own party.

We asked whether the councillor intended to join one of the opposition clubs (there are two: Platforma Samorządowa and Wolny Bolesławiec). M. Stróżyński:

I did not sign a coalition agreement. I am not in opposition to the current Starost, whom I consider an open and competent person with extensive professional experience, so he will certainly understand my decision, while I will always support good solutions for our county and individual municipalities, which the Starost is currently implementing.

At present, no one has made me an offer, nor have there been any talks about my joining a club in the County Council.

Will the councillor cease to be Deputy Chair of the County Council? The local government official:

At present, I am Deputy Chair of the County Council, and I have no knowledge of any plans to dismiss me. I do not believe that the Starost and people around him are vindictive or that they would remove people who make difficult decisions at all costs. And my decision to resign as a member and head of the PiS councillors’ club in the county was certainly not an easy one for me personally.

I am still a member of the Law and Justice party and have placed myself at the disposal of Szymon Pogoda, the party’s representative in the county. In the near future, I will submit a letter to Mr Szymon informing him of the reasons for my resignation from the PiS councillors’ club in the county.

The councillor adds: – I am not against the entire board either, because it includes competent and substantive people who will certainly do a great deal of good for our county. And they already are..
