A visit from children and young people from schools in the County of Bolesławiec required preparation, but no one refused to take part in the initiative. There are several reasons for this. First, young people need to be made aware of their rights and responsibilities. Second, they should know what the various departments of the office do and what matters can be handled there. Third, one does not often get the opportunity to sit in the county head’s chair. Fourth—successors need to be raised.
The topics of the meetings in the individual departments were adapted to the children’s ages. For example, the younger children looked for their homes on maps and learned about the duties of the county IT specialist. Older students were offered a meeting with the secretary, who explained, among other things, how councilors work and what their responsibilities are.
The women from the transport department talked about road safety, how to obtain a driving licence and how to register a car.
The county office prepared gifts and special county toffees for everyone who visited.
