Is it worth investing in a classic?
Wooden windows are undoubtedly the most traditional choice. Made from a natural material, their profiles seem irreplaceable above all in traditional and historic buildings, where they blend perfectly with the style of the façade. On the other hand, it cannot be denied that this type of window joinery has its disadvantages.
First, it is relatively expensive. Second, it requires the use of specialist care products and regular renovation. The need to paint the frames is particularly troublesome: it is not only costly, but also requires temporarily giving up the use of the given room. And although the wooden windows currently available for sale are equal in quality to joinery made from other materials, it is worth considering whether investing in them makes sense.
Plastic windows – ease of use
Plastic windows are made of polyvinyl chloride, the material responsible for their exceptional properties, although it raises certain concerns among many people, primarily of an ecological nature. However, this approach is entirely mistaken: as it turns out, PVC joinery has a much smaller impact on the natural environment than wooden joinery. Its production alone does not burden nature as heavily, and it is also almost 100% recyclable, making it an eco-friendly choice.
Moreover, plastic windows are completely resistant to atmospheric, environmental and biological factors, which translates into a long service life and the preservation of their functional and aesthetic qualities throughout their entire period of use.
Equally important is their ease of care. Unlike wooden windows, plastic windows can be washed with any cleaning product, including dishwashing liquid. You only need to avoid abrasive cloths and brushes that could permanently scratch the profiles. As for maintenance, there is actually no need for any special procedures in this case. From time to time, it is enough to protect the moving components with some lubricant; this task is so simple that anyone can easily do it themselves.
The functional qualities of plastic windows
Plastic windows are valued for their very favorable functional parameters, wide variety of models and cost-effectiveness. The market offers products that successfully meet the stringent standards of modern passive and energy-efficient construction. In addition, the selected model can be enhanced with burglar-resistant security features, noise insulation and other amenities that improve quality of life.
Plastic windows and aesthetics
Supporters of wooden joinery often claim that plastic windows are inferior to it in terms of aesthetic qualities. However, as a representative of the Hensfort window manufacturer explains, this is not true. Admittedly, when they first appeared on the market, their design options were very limited, but the situation has now changed.
The use of modern processing technologies has made it possible to produce windows in any shapes and colors. Equally importantly, products that imitate wood so convincingly have appeared that plastic windows can also be used in buildings with classical architecture. Their value is also clearly demonstrated by the fact that they have consistently maintained their position as the leader of the Polish construction market for a long time.
