As we read on the Facebook profile of Stowarzyszenie Pomost
On 23 April 2019, we carried out exhumation work in Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka. In a forest ravine, we found the grave of two German soldiers. According to local residents, they were executed for desertion in February 1945. Until the 1970s, local young people looked after the grave. The objects found with the remains—uniform buttons and insignia (the so-called seagulls)—indicate that the soldiers served in an aviation formation (the Luftwaffe). We found no identity tags in the grave.
The association asks anyone who has information about forgotten (unknown) graves of civilians and soldiers from the period of World War II to get in touch. Please contact us by telephone at: 601 46 94 94, 61 861 92 75 or by email: pomost@pomost.net.pl
Stowarzyszenie Pomost was founded in 1997 by Poles and Germans. Its founders wanted to try to repair, in some way, the poor relations that had developed between the Polish and German nations, particularly over the previous 60 years.
Initially, the association's activities focused on documenting wartime events along the Polish-German border. Later, they expanded to include ecumenical meetings, the maintenance of war cemeteries, archaeological activities and many other joint Polish-German initiatives...
