The accident occurred near the District Police Headquarters, at a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Zygmunta Augusta and Łasicka streets. The tragedy occurred on Tuesday at approximately 6 p.m.

The driver, Grzegorz M., a 22-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County, was sober. After being questioned by the prosecutor, the young man was not detained.

As there were no witnesses to the incident, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec is considering two versions of the direct cause of the accident. It may have been the pedestrian stepping onto the road or the driver failing to give her right of way.

The car was fully roadworthy. The absence of skid marks at the accident scene is noteworthy. Therefore, the most likely cause was the driver’s inattention. The prosecutor’s office intends to order an autopsy of the deceased woman. An expert will be involved in clarifying the circumstances of the accident.

Just under three weeks ago, an accident occurred at a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Podgórna and Karola Miarki streets. At that time, a 55-year-old woman suddenly stepped onto the road directly in front of an approaching lorry. Tests showed that the lorry driver was sober.
