For many years, the residents of 60,000-strong Stalowa Wola complained about high fuel prices. Prices at stations in this Podkarpackie city were several dozen groszy higher than elsewhere in the region. The city authorities decided to take action and… after lengthy efforts, a public fuel station offering prices several dozen groszy lower than at other stations was opened at the Miejski Zakład Komunikacji in Stalowa Wola.

The station opened on 20 March 2019. On opening day, the price of 95-octane petrol was 4.55 zł per litre, while diesel cost 4.85 zł per litre. Today, the prices of both fuels are a few groszy higher. Interestingly, the fuel supplied to the MZK Stalowa Wola station comes from… PKN Orlen.

The opening of the new station immediately caused prices at nearby chain stations to fall by 15 groszy. It appears that the era of exorbitant prices at fuel stations in Stalowa Wola has come to an end. Drivers are very eager to use the new station and are grateful to the city’s mayor for the investment. The only problem is that it is self-service. Not all motorists manage to use it without difficulty. MZK employees help drivers refuel. The investment cost 2 million zł.

Do you like Stalowa Wola’s idea for curbing high fuel prices in the city? Should Bolesławiec follow in the footsteps of this Podkarpackie city and build a municipal fuel station with reasonable prices? Such a solution would certainly force other stations in the city to lower their prices.
