On Saturday, runners competed in the forest near Piastów Street. The event was held as part of the nationwide “Poland Runs” campaign. Our city took part in the event for the first time. Forty-six people registered to compete in the races. The competition was held in the following categories: Primary Schools and Lower Secondary Schools (1,000 m) and Open (2,000 m). The winner in the Primary Schools and Lower Secondary Schools category was Rafał Sapeta (Bolesławiec), ahead of Jakub Berestecki (Bolesławiec) and Krzysztof Jamroz (Nowa Ruda).
The Open category was won by Mariusz Tokarczyk (Legnica). Second place went to Leszek Becla (Bolesławiec). Kamil Chojnicki (Bolesławiec) finished third. The winners received ceramic trophies and diplomas. Special recognition was also given to the youngest and oldest participants in the race. The youngest runner was Andrzej Krzemiński (6 years old), while the oldest was Andrzej Czeczutka (63 years old).
Waldemar Krzemiński, Waldemar Krzemiński a TOP Son Bolesławiec player, also took part in the race. The accomplished tennis player also received a distinction. Despite his disability, Waldemar Krzemiński completed the race in the Open category alongside able-bodied competitors. The organizers of the Bolesławiec “Poland Runs” event also prepared other attractions. Sausages from the grill were provided for competitors and their companions. Participants could also play golf and sit around a bonfire. More than 80 people took part in the event overall. The event was organized by Mirosław Sakowski, president of the Bolesławiec Golf Club and a city councillor, and Bolesławiec’s Civic Platform.
