The project was inaugurated in the primary school’s assembly hall by the school principal, Urszula Krzywdzińska, Zofia Komołowska, widow of a Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland and an opposition activist during the “Solidarity” era, Artur Gałęski, director of the Institute, and Renata Krasowska – vice-president of the Association of Poles in Lithuania, Trakai branch.
After the official launch of the project and a meeting with the school’s students, a meeting was held with the Mayor of Nowogrodziec, Robert Relich. The guests from Trakai and Szczecin then toured Nowogrodziec, learning about its remarkable history and monuments.
As part of the project, cooperation was established between the Bolesław Chrobry Primary School in Nowogrodziec and the Longin Komołowski Gymnasium in Półuknie, Lithuania. The objectives of the public task include exchanging educational best practices between the schools, jointly researching family histories in Poland and Lithuania, and enabling the project participants and the schools’ teaching staff to get to know one another.
