We are sending traditional letters less and less often, and as a result, Poczta Polska’s revenue from this source is declining. In January this year, it fell by 9 percent.

That is why Poczta Polska will introduce a new price list at the beginning of April. (It has already been approved by the Office of Electronic Communications.)

“The changes were necessary,” one of PP’s managers told Rzeczpospolita. “Without the new price list, Poczta’s losses on the universal service would exceed as much as PLN 350 million this year. Now they can be limited to around PLN 70 million.”

As we read on rp.pl:

Until now, the average household spent approximately PLN 70.87 a year on letters; after the increase, this will be around PLN 79.92. Following the price changes, the average Pole will pay around PLN 9 more per year for letters. The price of even the cheapest and most popular option, the domestic economy letter, will rise from PLN 2.60 to PLN 3.30. This means that sending a postcard will become 27 percent more expensive.

Details are available on the Rzeczpospolita website.

What do you think? Do you often send traditional letters and postcards? Will you continue to use Poczta Polska’s services?
