During his visit to the training ground near Żagań, the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda also came to Bolesławiec.

The head of state met with the people of Bolesławiec in the hall of Primary School No. 1 (Jana Pawła II Street).

Video reports:

Bolesławiec County starosta Tomasz Gabrysiak spoke, saying, among other things, that after the war Bolesławiec became a kind of cultural melting pot. He also mentioned that young Poles, young residents of Bolesławiec County, remember their compatriots who remained on foreign soil and care for their graves.

He addressed President Andrzej Duda, informing him that the head of state had arrived in the capital of Polish ceramics—ceramics that reach not only all of Europe, but also Korea, Japan and the United States.

President Andrzej Duda:

This is my first time in Bolesławiec and I am hugely impressed. I was in the Market Square and it enchanted me. A beautiful city. But not only because of its architecture; above all, because Bolesławiec is an exceptionally well-kept city. That is also your achievement.

I would be happy if all of Poland were like Bolesławiec. I congratulate you on this from the bottom of my heart.

And he added:

I was enormously impressed by the story of where today’s residents of Bolesławiec came from.

The President of the Republic of Poland mentioned Poland’s achievements and how important it is that the United States Army is stationed in Bolesławiec.

A. Duda:

To conclude, I want to say one thing: I would like us to continue pursuing a policy of extending a hand to ordinary people and Polish families. I am glad that the 500+ program will continue and that there will be support for pensioners and disability-benefit recipients.

I would like you to feel good in Poland; I care about this enormously. It is extremely important to put this reality in our country right. It is not always easy, but we are trying and will continue to try.

And he emphasized:

The most beautiful moment summing up my presidency for me will be when I hear an ordinary family say: yes, we are living better than when you began.

Importantly, the head of state announced that he would assume honorary patronage of the Ceramics Festival.

The ceremony was hosted by Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska, head of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre.
