From Sunday, 10 March, the adjustment to the train timetable will provide long-distance and metropolitan travel and support the implementation of the largest investment programme in history. Trains will return to the modernised Grabowno Wielkie–Zduny line in Lower Silesia. PKP Intercity trains will also stop in Jarocin and Krotoszyn.
The adjustment to the train timetable will remain in force until 8 June. An optimal range of connections has been prepared for travellers. Carriers and the infrastructure manager have made use of the available railway-line capacity. Investments from the National Railway Programme are often carried out alongside train services. Their results include modern stations and stops, as well as efficient and safer journeys. Transport in metropolitan areas and regions, and between them, is improving, giving travellers better access to rail.
Lower Silesia: Wrocław–Krotoszyn services return
Modernisation of the 40-kilometre Grabowno Wielkie–Zduny section is nearing completion. The return of passenger services from Wrocław to Krotoszyn is planned for 25 March. The journey will take 1 hour 50 minutes, and Milicz will be reached in an hour and a half. New platforms adapted for people with reduced mobility are being prepared at all seven stations and stops: Grabowno Wielkie, Bukowice Trzebnickie, Krośnice, Milicz, Wierzchowice, Rakoniewice Milickie and Cieszków.
More convenient travel from new platforms
On the Warsaw–Białystok route, rail travellers will find six modernised platforms at Małkinia and Sadowne stations and at the following stops: Prostyń, Zaręby Kościelne, Kietlanka and Szulborze Wielkie. From the March timetable adjustment, trains on the Sadowne Węgrowskie–Czyżew route will run on the new track, while work will move to the second track. A new bridge over the Bug River will be used on this section.
On the Jaworzno Szczakowa–Trzebinia route, travellers are already using rebuilt platforms at Jaworzno Ciężkowice and Balin stops. The platforms are higher and have new surfaces and lighting; new shelters will also be installed.
In March, passengers will be able to use the rebuilt, more convenient platforms in Otwock. A new platform will be opened after modernisation at Szczecin Główny station. Travellers can also use the pedestrian-and-cycle underpass opened at Dąbrowa Górnicza Ząbkowice station. The connection from Zielona Góra station towards the city is open. The facility is equipped with displays providing information about train services and an information kiosk.
By rail through the regions
Direct services from Radom to Dęblin will return in March. In Mazovia, the rebuilding of platforms at Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki station will bring changes to local and long-distance services. The timetable is available, among other places, on portalpasazera.pl and from the carriers.
On 10 March, the next stage of rebuilding the final section of the Warsaw–Radom line will begin. The contractor will start modernisation between Warka and Radom. Changes to services will be introduced. Until July, regional trains between Strzyżyna and Radom will be replaced by buses, while long-distance trains will run on a diverted route.
In the Kraków railway junction, the timetable reflects the largest modernisation of a railway line since the beginning of railways. A weekday interruption to train services remains in place on the Podłęże–Kraków Główny section, from approximately 9:50 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Some trains will run via Kraków Olsza, bypassing Kraków Główny station. Several trains will take a diverted route via Kraków Nowa Huta station, bypassing Kraków Płaszów station.
Work is continuing, among other places, in the Łódź railway junction, in Warmia and Mazury, and on routes from the capital to Poznań and Terespol. Changes are also in effect on the railway route from Kraków to Zakopane, where PLK is rebuilding the Skawina–Sucha Beskidzka and Chabówka–Zakopane lines. Replacement transport is provided on some sections.
During the modernisation of the Lublin–Warsaw line, long-distance trains continue to run via Lubartów and Parczew. From March, replacement bus services for regional trains will remain in place on the Garwolin–Dęblin section. Trains are planned to return to the Warsaw–Pilawa–Garwolin–Dęblin route (via Mińsk Mazowiecki) in May. Work on the Otwock–Pilawa section will also begin then, requiring replacement bus services. The timetable is being planned to provide travellers with the best possible transport.
New features in the PKP Intercity timetable
The March timetable adjustment introduces additional stops for PKP Intercity trains. From 8 March, TLK Rozewie trains operating on the Gdynia–Bielsko-Biała–Gdynia route and IC Przemyślanin trains operating on the Przemyśl–Świnoujście–Przemyśl route will stop at Jarocin station. Between 8 April and 8 June, five PKP Intercity trains will stop in Krotoszyn, providing connections from the town to Warsaw, Wrocław and Gdynia, among other destinations. Residents of Zielona Góra will gain additional connections with the capital. A connecting service from Poznań to Zielona Góra will be attached to the evening TLK Gombrowicz train operating on the Warsaw–Poznań route.
A night connecting service from Zielona Góra to Poznań will provide a connection with the TLK Uznam train, operating on the Świnoujście–Warsaw route, and enable passengers to reach the capital in the morning. More information about the PKP IC offer is available at intercity.pl.
