On Sunday, 24 February, an accident occurred on the A18. A van carrying US Army soldiers left the road and overturned. Seven people were travelling in the vehicle. Six soldiers were injured in the accident. Two of them are in serious condition.
The road towards Wrocław was initially completely blocked. At 3:30 p.m., traffic towards Wrocław was moving in one lane. Drivers travelling from Germany should leave the A18 near Luboszów to avoid the traffic jam.

As reported on the website of the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec:
After receiving a report of approximately six injured people, the duty officer at the PSP Operations Command Post in Bolesławiec dispatched a total of seven units and 25 firefighters from JRG Bolesławiec, WSP Świętoszów, OSP Trzebień and OSP Ławszowa to the scene.
When the first units arrived, firefighters confirmed that a Renault Trafic had left the road and that seven people were outside the vehicle, six of whom were injured. The first rescue operation commander, conducting an initial triage, identified two injured people for immediate life-saving assistance and four for assistance to be provided next.
It was also established that the people travelling in the vehicle were American soldiers.
After all dispatched personnel and equipment had arrived at the scene, assistance was provided to all the injured, who were then handed over to the six arriving Emergency Medical Rescue Teams.
PSP firefighters, OSP rescuers and a military rescuer, providing qualified first aid, cleared the airways, placed the injured in the shock position, stabilised them on board-type stretchers, administered oxygen therapy and dressed their wounds.
The Military Police are investigating the causes of the accident.
