As part of the tactical and special training led by the commander of the 3rd Rocket Artillery Squadron with the 1st Rocket Artillery Battery and the logistics company, the exercising subunits solved tactical problems, while the firing elements carried out tasks using live ammunition during the day and in conditions of limited visibility.

After the exercise began, the squadron commander, Maj. Robert Oleś, handed the exercising commanders an initial combat order, after which the subunits began the practical implementation of their tasks.

For two days, the personnel under Capt. Konrad Kurlej and Senior Warrant Officer Jerzy Świątkowski carried out activities related to achieving readiness to undertake operations, operating in the initial area, providing fire support with live ammunition, and the subunit’s actions in various battlefield situations.

The tasks were made more difficult by attacks from sabotage groups and other simulated incidents in the area occupied by the exercising batteries, such as forest blockages, vehicle damage, shelling and contamination of operational areas.

The final element of the training was testing operations in a CBRN-contaminated environment. After completing their tasks, the subunits left the firing positions area and, after redeploying, carried out operational decontamination.

In the squadron commander’s assessment, the exercise achieved its intended objective. Maj. Oleś:

The rocket artillery battery performed all tasks, both tactical and firing-related, very well. I also rate the logistics company highly. The demonstrated level of execution of the tasks assigned to the exercising units reinforced my conviction that the batteries are prepared for combat operations. I was able to identify the positive aspects of their work and draw conclusions regarding the directions of further training, as part of which we will work to maintain this level of training.

On the basis of the 3rd Squadron’s tactical and special training, the commander of the 23rd Artillery Regiment, Lt. Col. Witold Zawadzki, conducted instructional and methodological training for commanders of squadrons and independent subunits. The aim of the training was to guide commanders on how to prepare and conduct tactical and special training with a battery/company, and to improve the commanders’ organizational and methodological skills using the training facilities under field conditions.

The topics addressed included, among others, the operations of a reconnaissance and preparation group while reconnoitring the route of march, the organization of combat security in the initial area, the organization of the squadron fire control point, and the conduct of decontamination. The final element of the training was a presentation of the organization and preparation of a subunit to restore combat capability after its loss.
