The incident occurred on Monday, February 4. The duty officer of the Bolesławiec Municipal Police received a report of heavy smoke near Wróblewski Street.
A patrol was sent to the scene. The building’s stairwell was filled with heavy smoke.
Bolesławiec Municipal Police:
After locating the apartment from which the smoke was coming, officers inspected the coal-fired stove, where they found no evidence of any waste being burned.
The officers called the fire service. Firefighters extinguished the stove and banned its use until a chimney sweep had inspected the chimney flues. (The building manager was also notified of the matter).
