French Fries Will Become More Expensive Due to Last Year’s Drought

Potatoes are nearly twice as expensive as they were a year ago, writes Aleksandra Ptak-Iglewska on rp.pl.

As reported by “Rzeczpospolita”:

Potato prices have risen the most of all agricultural products tracked by GUS. As the office calculated in the data just published, PLN 52.74 was paid for a tonne of potatoes in December 2018—75.2 percent more than in December 2017. Potato prices rose suddenly; in December, they were more than 46 percent higher than in November.

The reason? The drought that affected all voivodeships in our country last year.
