Where did the term Blue Monday come from?

As we read on the wp.pl website:

The term Blue Monday is considered pseudoscience. Scientists claim that the formula for Blue Monday is meaningless because of inconsistent units and the unmeasurability of some of its components, so it cannot be used to determine anything. Dean Burnett, a neuroscientist from Cardiff University, described the Blue Monday algorithm as “a farce containing meaningless measurements.”

Journalists from the left-wing British daily newspaper “The Guardian” established that the PR agency Porter Novelli was responsible for promoting the concept and the entire theory:

It came up with the formula and assumptions behind Blue Monday. Before the article was published in the media, the agency contacted many university researchers, offering payment in exchange for including their names in the article.
