A revolution in taxes—this time in the positive sense of the word. As we read on the dziennikzachodni.pl:
On 28 August, the government adopted draft amendments to acts that will make filing an annual tax return much easier. The tax office will prepare the tax return for 2018 for taxpayers, without the need to submit any application. Between 15 February and 30 April, everyone will be able to review their PIT return on the Tax Portal, update their personal bank account number and file the return online. If a taxpayer chooses to file their PIT electronically, they will receive their refund within 45 days.
What does this mean?
As the Ministry of Finance reports:
Introducing the new solution means that nearly 25% of taxpayers filing individually and not using any tax reliefs or deductions will not have to do anything to settle their PIT for the previous year. Another 25% of taxpayers—those filing jointly with their spouse and not using any tax reliefs or deductions—will be able to complete their annual tax settlement with two clicks.
“I am very pleased that the government has adopted such an important project, which will make annual PIT filing easier for millions of Poles. Thanks to the digitalisation of the National Revenue Administration, we no longer need to require taxpayers to complete applications or declarations in order to fulfil this obligation. We want the tax office to complete the return and make it available to the taxpayer for review and, if necessary, completion,” said Finance Minister Prof. Teresa Czerwińska in August last year.
