Oskar Ćwilichowski, a six-year-old resident of Łąka near Bolesławiec, had frequently been in hospital since birth. When he was two and a half, doctors diagnosed him with juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia. A bone marrow transplant was necessary. Oskar’s older sister, Gabriela, became the donor.
After a year and a half of treatment, the disease returned. The boy underwent a second transplant. The disease stopped progressing, but complications developed. Oskar requires expensive treatment, which his mother simply cannot afford. Julita Ćwilichowska receives a disability pension (she had acute leukemia) and is raising three children alone.
On Friday, April 17, a concert in aid of Oskar was held in Trzebień. The parents of students at the Primary School in Trzebień baked cakes and served coffee and tea. A raffle and an auction of the children’s artwork were held. What is more, thanks to women from Bolesławiec with big hearts, concertgoers could send SMS messages in support of the young resident of Łąka.
The performers included students from the Primary School in Trzebień, Dawid Rajfur from Kraśnik Dolny (he sang three songs by the group Pectus), scouts from the Orły Skalne troop, and participants in vocal classes at the Youth Cultural Centre in Bolesławiec.
Fans of folklore also had no reason to complain that evening. The well-known Jutrzenka ensemble performed in Trzebień. The concert ended with a show by the Syrokomla knightly group.
The event was organized by the Primary School in Trzebień and the Municipal Cultural and Sports Centre in Bolesławiec, with its registered office in Kruszyn.
